Translating is a solitary job. Yet the translator is open to the wide world.
When I converse with customers, as I visit them or meet potential colaborators, this avidity for knowledge often takes me to regions which are quite remote from what I first thought… exaltation and torments are part of the game.
That is when colleagues, a trade-union come to the rescue.
The Société Française des Traducteurs is the trade union striving for the promotion and defense of the translators’ rights and interests. It is there to protect translators’ and interpreters’ interests. If need be, it will also help setting up a network and, when you are not available or if you do not meet the requirements, it will help you find the colleague who fits the job.
The SFT is indeed, an exceptional network of translators with diverse backgrounds. It provides the translators with the support they need.
